Plague doctor captured at Poveglia Island

December 19, 2016

Considered to be the ‘most haunted island in the world’, Poveglia Island has its fair share of paranormal activity. It is also known to be one of the most evil places on Earth too.

The island is situated in Northern Italy between Venice and Lido in the Venetian Lagoon. It is said to be haunted by victims of the plague and an evil doctor who was driven to suicide by the islands ghosts.

Erik Vanlier of Golden State Haunts set out to investigate the island to find out if the legends were true and to try and capture anything paranormal on camera. Little did he know that he would capture the Plague Doctor himself.

Erik said “I investigated the most haunted island in the world, Poveglia, where victims of the Plague were brought to be burned and a mental hospital was built in 1922.

“A doctor performed crude lobotomies on the patients there before it’s said the ghosts drove him to commit suicide by throwing himself off the bell tower.

“I got more than I bargained for capturing a shadow person, footsteps, disembodied voices, the Plague Doctor himself and more.
