Expedition X Season 12: Robin Hood, Skinwalkers and Jack Osbourne
Good news! One of my favourite TV shows is returning, and this new season of Expedition X looks like it could be the best one yet.
Expedition X Season 12 premieres on Wednesday, August 19 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel, with Josh Gates once again sending scientist Phil Torres and paranormal investigator Heather Amaro to investigate places where stories of history, folklore and the supernatural all mix together, and this time the season begins right here in the UK.
A Haunted Robin Hood Investigation
The new season kicks off with a special two-part investigation in Nottingham, England, exploring the darker side of the legend of Robin Hood.
Heather and Phil investigate reports of mysterious figures, ghostly apparitions and unexplained activity while also exploring some of Nottingham’s most historic locations.
Their investigation takes them beneath the city into its centuries-old cave systems and medieval dungeons before heading to Newstead Abbey and then on to Sherwood Forest itself.
Rather than simply investigating whether Robin Hood was a real historical figure, Expedition X will look at whether centuries of violence and bloodshed surrounding the area may have left behind something paranormal.
Could some of the strange experiences reported around Nottingham and Sherwood Forest be connected to its medieval past?
It sounds like it could be a great location to start off the new season.
Expedition X Season 12 Investigations
The Robin Hood mystery isn’t the only paranormal case coming this season.
Other investigations announced by Discovery include:
Skinwalkers – Navajo Nation
The team ventures into a remote valley within the Navajo Nation to investigate frightening reports surrounding the legendary Skinwalker.
Working alongside a local expert, Heather and Phil investigate sightings and eventually explore a cave rumoured to be connected to the mysterious creature.
Haunted World War II Battlefields – Guam
Expedition X also travels to Guam to investigate reports of aggressive paranormal activity around historic World War II battlefields.
Thousands lost their lives during the fighting on the island, and the team will investigate whether echoes of Guam’s violent past could still remain.
Revolutionary War Ghosts – Brandywine River
Jack Osbourne is also returning to Expedition X later in the season.
He will reunite with the team for a special investigation marking America’s 250th anniversary, searching for reported spirits around Revolutionary War battlegrounds near the Brandywine River.
Osbourne previously joined Heather during Season 11 for their investigation of the haunted ghost town of Vulture City.
Josh Gates, Phil Torres and Heather Amaro Return
The familiar Expedition X team of Josh Gates, Phil Torres and Heather Amaro all return for Season 12.
From haunted medieval caves beneath Nottingham and the depths of Sherwood Forest to Skinwalker legends and ghost-filled battlefields, this season certainly feels like it could be a good one.
Personally, the Nottingham and Sherwood Forest investigation is the one I’m most looking forward to watching, especially with it being a UK investigation and somewhere that I have visited a good few times.
Expedition X Season 12 premieres Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel.
A UK premiere date has yet to be confirmed.
