Pentagon Releases Sixth Batch of Declassified UFO Files

The Pentagon has released another major collection of declassified UFO files, including footage of mysterious spherical objects observed by the US military, historical UFO cases and documents connected with a secretive government aerospace programme.

Published on September 18th, the latest release is the sixth batch of records made available through the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters, better known as PURSUE.

The material was published as part of the Pentagon’s sixth PURSUE release, with the full collection of videos, documents and audio available through the official UAP records archive.

The files cover incidents and research spanning more than 70 years, from classic UFO cases investigated during the early 1950s to unexplained objects detected by modern military sensors.

Among the most intriguing material are videos showing spherical objects observed during military operations in the Middle East, footage connected with the famous 1952 Tremonton UFO incident and documents examining theoretical technologies including warp drives, wormholes and advanced propulsion.

But despite some extraordinary subject matter, the documents should not be interpreted as confirmation that extraterrestrial spacecraft have been discovered.

Instead, they provide another fascinating look at the sightings, research and unexplained incidents that have attracted the attention of the US government over several decades.

Mysterious Spherical Objects Over the Middle East

Some of the most interesting material in the latest release comes from relatively recent military encounters.

One incident involved approximately six small spherical objects observed during a US military operation in the Middle East.

According to an accompanying report, the objects appeared agile and frequently changed direction.

Another encounter recorded an unidentified object travelling at varying speeds estimated at between approximately 80 and 180mph.

Military operators were unable to determine the altitude of the objects, which were estimated to measure between one and two metres across.

The footage does not reveal what the objects actually were.

Their inclusion within the PURSUE archive means they were reported and investigated as UAP, not that they have been determined to be extraterrestrial craft.

UFO Reports From Local Police

The sixth release also expands beyond military observations.

Several videos originated from local law enforcement officers in Colorado following sightings reported in October 2023.

In one case, an officer described observing a silent phenomenon displaying red, blue and green flashing lights.

Cellphone footage of the sighting was subsequently provided to the Pentagon office responsible for investigating UAP.

The addition of local law-enforcement material is particularly interesting because PURSUE releases have so far been dominated by military and government records.

The Famous 1952 Tremonton UFO Film

The latest release doesn’t concentrate entirely on modern sightings. It also revisits one of America’s classic UFO cases.

On July 2, 1952, US Navy Chief Warrant Officer Delbert Newhouse was travelling with his family near Tremonton, Utah, when they reportedly observed a group of bright objects moving through the sky.

Newhouse managed to capture the objects using a 16mm movie camera.

The resulting footage became one of the best-known films investigated during the US Air Force’s early UFO programmes and was subsequently examined as part of Project Blue Book.

Various explanations have been proposed over the decades, including birds and balloons, but the footage remains an important part of UFO history.

The newly released material allows the public to revisit the case as part of the government’s growing online UAP archive.

Project Blue Book Investigator Discusses Unexplained Cases

Another fascinating historical addition is an audio recording and transcript involving US Air Force officer Captain Edward J. Ruppelt.

Ruppelt became the first director of Project Blue Book, the Air Force programme responsible for investigating UFO reports between 1952 and 1969.

In a presentation recorded in 1952, Ruppelt discussed hundreds of UFO reports examined by the Air Force.

He indicated that approximately 20 percent of around 800 reports examined at the time were considered strong cases for which investigators had been unable to reach a conclusion.

That doesn’t mean those incidents were extraterrestrial. But it demonstrates that even during the earliest years of official UFO investigations, a proportion of reports remained unresolved after examination.

Secret Aerospace Programme Documents Released

The sixth PURSUE release also contains extensive material relating to the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program (AAWSAP).

Established by the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2008, AAWSAP investigated potential future aerospace threats and unconventional technologies before ending in 2012.

The newly published collection includes dozens of Defense Intelligence Reference Documents examining highly speculative areas of physics and engineering.

The subjects include warp drives, wormholes, antigravity, negative mass propulsion and invisibility cloaking.

Those subjects inevitably sound like something straight out of science fiction. However, the Pentagon has cautioned that the documents should be viewed as reference and synthesis studies rather than proof that such technologies exist or have been successfully developed.

Their inclusion does not mean the US government has built a warp drive. or discovered one aboard a crashed UFO.

Research Into Alleged Injuries From Anomalous Aerospace Systems

One of the stranger documents examines reported injuries allegedly associated with encounters involving anomalous aerospace phenomena.

The technical study discusses three individuals who reportedly experienced an unusual aerospace-related event before developing a range of physical symptoms.

These reportedly included skin effects, hair loss and symptoms potentially associated with radiation exposure.

The document compares the cases with known injuries caused by radiofrequency radiation. However, it does not identify an extraterrestrial source for the reported effects, and the circumstances surrounding such cases remain controversial.

As with many documents contained within historical UAP programmes, the existence of a government study does not necessarily validate the claims being examined.

Another Step in the Pentagon’s UAP Disclosure Programme

The sixth release follows a series of UAP disclosures made through PURSUE since the programme began publishing records earlier this year and additional releases are expected.

Interestingly though, this latest batch comes only days after the Pentagon issued a new legal waiver allowing eligible current and former military personnel, civilian employees and contractors to provide protected UAP information directly to PURSUE without violating certain non-disclosure and Special Access Program agreements.

That waiver does not allow classified information to be released publicly. Instead, it provides an authorised route through which potentially sensitive UAP information can be submitted for government review and possible future declassification.

Together, the two developments suggest that the government’s UAP archive could continue growing considerably.

More UFO Files Are Coming

The Pentagon has confirmed that further UAP files will be released on a rolling basis.

Whether those future releases contain anything capable of answering the biggest questions surrounding the UFO phenomenon remains to be seen but so far the PURSUE archive has provided plenty of unexplained sightings, intriguing military footage and fascinating historical documents, but no definitive evidence that any UAP represents extraterrestrial technology.

Nevertheless, the sixth release gives researchers and UFO enthusiasts another substantial collection of government material to examine, and with additional files already being prepared, this almost certainly won’t be the last unusual footage to emerge from the Pentagon’s UFO archive.
