Paranormal Investigators Capture Mysterious Child’s Voice at Isle of Man Tea Room
A paranormal investigation at a tea room on the Isle of Man has produced an intriguing piece of audio that appears to contain the voice of a child. The investigators say nobody heard the voice at the time.
The unexplained recording was captured during an investigation by the Sixth Senses Paranormal Society (SSPS) at the Vintage Tea Room on Malew Street in Castletown, Isle of Man.
The Isle of Man-based paranormal team had been invited to investigate the property and spent the night recording and documenting their experience.
It was only later, while reviewing their footage, that something strange caught their attention.
A voice, seemingly that of a child, could be heard on the recording, but according to the investigators, nobody heard it at time during the investigation.
The Voice Nobody Heard
Gareth Davies from Sixth Senses Paranormal Society contacted me after the investigation to share the recording and the circumstances surrounding it.
According to Gareth, the team discovered the mysterious voice while reviewing their footage afterwards.
What makes the recording particularly intriguing is that nobody heard the voice at the time
If somebody had heard a child speaking during the investigation, an obvious explanation might have been another person making a noise, a voice from outside the property or just a noise that investigators had misidentified in the moment. Instead though, the sound apparently went unnoticed until the recording was played back.
I have listened to the clip supplied by SSPS and there does appear to be a voice on the recording that does sound like a child talking.
What produced it, however, is another question entirely.
Listen to the audio in the video below. What do you think the child-like voice says, and could it have have been paranormal?
An Important Detail About the Recording
There is an important point to make about the this clip. The recording supplied to me is not the original camera file from the investigation.
Gareth explained that the team’s original full camera footage was later deleted when storage space was being cleared from a USB storage device.
Fortunately, while reviewing the original footage, the relevant section had been recorded separately using a phone. It is this recording on the phone, of the playback, that has been shared with me.
SSPS were completely open about this when sharing the video and specifically wanted to avoid presenting the surviving clip as the original camera recording.
That means the audio cannot be examined in quite the same way as an untouched original file. Nevertheless, it provides an intriguing record of what the investigators say they discovered during their review.
So What Could the Voice Be?
Recordings such as this are sometimes described within paranormal investigation as Electronic Voice Phenomena, or an EVP, sounds resembling speech that are discovered on recordings despite apparently not being heard by those present at the time.
For paranormal investigators, some EVPs are interpreted as possible attempts at communication from the other side.
There can be, of course, more conventional possibilities.
Background noise, voices from elsewhere in or outside of a building, electronic interference and the tendency for the human brain to recognise familiar patterns in sounds can all potentially cause mysterious voices to emerge from recordings. And once somebody tells us that a sound resembles a particular word or voice, it can become quite difficult to hear it any other way.
That’s why it is often better to listen to recordings like this before being told what somebody else thinks the voice is saying.
In this case, there simply isn’t enough information to say conclusively what produced the sound. And SSPS aren’t claiming otherwise.

“We Investigate, You Decide”
One of the things that caught my attention when Gareth first contacted me was the team’s approach to paranormal evidence.
Rather than presenting every unexplained noise as proof of something paranormal, Sixth Senses Paranormal Society describes its philosophy simply as, “We investigate, you decide.”
The team does not claim that an unexplained recording automatically proves a paranormal explanation and that approach is particularly relevant here.
There is clearly something audible in the recording. It sounds remarkably voice-like and, to our ears, could certainly be interpreted as a child speaking.
But sounding like a child’s voice and proving that the recording has a paranormal origin are two very different things. For now, the source remains unexplained.
The Investigation Attracted Local Attention
The unusual recording also caught the attention of Isle of Man radio station 3FM, which reported on the investigation in September.
The station reported that SSPS had been invited into the Vintage Tea Room and spent the night recording their investigation.
Ultimately, their investigation was described as inconclusive.
That may not sound as dramatic as declaring that the building is definitely haunted, but perhaps that’s exactly how paranormal investigations should sometimes end.
Not every unexplained sound needs an immediate supernatural explanation. Sometimes the most interesting answer is simply that, we don’t know.
Sixth Senses Paranormal Society published their full investigation of the Vintage Tea Room on YouTube, allowing viewers to see the wider context surrounding the team’s visit.

The Vintage Tea Room investigation isn’t the team’s only exploration of the Isle of Man’s reportedly haunted locations, SSPS continue to document investigations around the island.
As for the strange child like voice recorded at the Vintage Tea Room, I will leave the final judgement to you.
Listen to the clip, preferably with headphones, and make up your own mind.
Does it sound like a child speaking?
And if it does, who, or what, was responsible for the voice that apparently nobody heard at the time?
