The church built in 1876-78 on the site of a medieval church was already redundant when partially destroyed by a fire in 2010; its previous Sunday School building was known as St Mary's in the Wood Church from 2010, until being sold to Leeds City Council in 2023.

It is rumoured to be haunted, one vistor claim to see a strange glowing figure walk in between a pair of headstones then seemingly float away...

Facebook live from Weelsby Woods located in Grimbys from 14/10/21. Weelsby woods has a historical connection to both a "witches' circles" and a World War II prisoner-of-war (POW) camp. Charlene and encountered something which seemed sinister.
