Two of my favourite TV shows have returned for new seasons on Discovery and Discovery+. Expedition X and Expedition Bigfoot.
Brand new episodes were released on the 14th August in the US, with a new episode for each show each week in the coming weeks.
Expedition Bigfoot season 5 is released in the UK on 24th September 2024. There is no date for a UK release of Expedition X as far as I know, but I will update as soon as I hear of one.
If you are a fan of both shows then you will notice that both shows have slightly different teams this year to what we are familiar with.
For Expedition X, there is new member, Heather Amaro who has replaced Jessica Chobot. Heather is a third-generation paranormal investigator and is highly experienced in the field.
So why is Jessica Chobot not part of season 8? Well its because she is working on something new with Discovery.
She posted on her Instagram “And to those who are asking why I’m not on this season, I’m working on something new with Discovery… Here’s a hint. It’s the weird sh*t that I love mixed with other weird sh*t that I love! The perfect combo. Have a great day everyone & look forward to more adventures together!”

There were rumours that Jessica and Josh Gates had a feud over “creative differences” for the show but there has been no evidence of any feud, nor has Discovery commented on any rumours.
It will be strange not seeing Chobot on Expedition X but I am looking forward to see what she has been working on.
As for Expedition Bigfoot, well they return to Northern California this season, but you will notice that Ronnie LeBlanc is no longer part of the team and that Bryce Johnson has now taking up the task of going out into the field with Mireya Mayor rather than being left behind reviewing evidence and going out interviewing witnesses.
A new member Ben Smith who is a former CIA undercover operative will be interviewing key witnesses to Bigfoot.
Ronny LeBlanc shared on Twitter a few weeks ago explaining that he left Expedition Bigfoot for a multitude of reasons.

So lets see what both shows can entertain us with this year with these new episodes. I hope they as good as past seasons have been.
